Exclusive: Port Vale and Blackpool ready bids for Aston Villa’s Filip Marschall
Port Vale and Blackpool are readying bids for Aston Villa goalkeeper Filip Marschall, sources have told Football Insider.
The 22-year-old spent the last season in League Two with Crewe Alexandra, having previously had stints with MK Dons and Gateshead.
League One duo Port Vale and Blackpool are interested in either loan or permanent deals for Marschall as they look to bolster their goalkeeping options before the start of the new season.
Villa are willing to offload the keeper, who has struggled for promotion to the first team, where Emiliano Martinez is the long-established number one.
The Englishman made his senior debut for Villa in December 2023, starting in a 1-1 draw against Bosnian side HŠK Zrinjski in the UEFA Conference League.

Marschall began his career at non-league side Cambridge City, before making the switch to Aston Villa in January 2018, aged just 14.
The former England Under-19 international made his way through the ranks at the Villa, winning the FA Youth Cup with the club back in 2021.
Last season, Marschall played every single minute out on loan at Crewe in League Two, helping Lee Bell’s side to a 13th-place finish.
After impressing in the fourth tier, the shot-stopper is attracting interest from League One outfits.

‘Aston Villa make final Marco Asensio decision’
Meanwhile, Aston Villa have reportedly pulled the plug on their ambitions of signing Marco Asensio on a permanent deal.
That is according to their former scout Mick Brown, who claims that Unai Emery is prepared to move on without the 29-year-old in his squad.
The Spaniard’s wage demands are believed to be prohibitive for Villa, while a number of European clubs are also preparing to step up their interest.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Asensio “will return to PSG” after concerns were raised about his fitness levels and longevity.
