Exclusive: Wycombe Wanderers sack Scott Mitchell
Wycombe Wanderers head of recruitment Scott Mitchell has surprisingly left his role at the League One club, sources have told Football Insider.
Mitchell, 39, who took up the position at Wycombe in the summer of 2023, was informed earlier this week the club were letting him go as they were going in a different direction.
The news is all the more surprising with Wycombe riding high in League One sitting in second spot behind big-spending Birmingham.
Much of Wycombe’s success this season is down to Mitchell’s impressive work in three transfer windows with a shoestring budget compared to some of their rivals.
Former Ipswich Town academy chief Mitchell is well regarded within recruitment circles and news of his availability is sure to alert a number of clubs.

Matt Bloomfield has the club playing some fantastic football, scoring 25 goals in 12 league games, the most in the competition.
Nestled between the American celebrity-backed clubs Birmingham and Wrexham, Wycombe have achieved eight wins, two draws, and two defeats this season.
Their form is made all the more impressive when you factor in the fact they didn’t pay a fee for a single one of the 14 new first-team players brought in over the summer.

Wycombe next face York City in the FA Cup on Saturday (November 2) before returning to League One action against Stockport County on Tuesday (November 5).
