‘Friedkins set for new Sean Dyche pay-off as Everton settlement details emerge’

The Friedkin Group could still owe Sean Dyche a settlement before the end of the season after being relieved of his Everton duties, according to The Times.

The former manager looked to be sleepwalking the Toffees to relegation this season, winning just three league matches before his timely demise last month.

David Moyes’ era at Everton has started with a bang, seeing the team rise to 14th in the Premier League table, six points closer to the top half than they are to the dreaded drop zone.

His tenure has not come without its problems, with Carlos Alcaraz being the only Everton arrival during the winter transfer window, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s injury problems arising again.

The striker joins Seamus Coleman, Nathan Patterson, Orel Mangala, Dwight McNeil, Iliman Ndiaye, Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti on the sidelines, and things could get even worse.

According to The Times, Dyche stands to receive a payment worth hundreds of thousands of pounds should the Toffees mathematically secure safety in the division.

It is understood that this figure relates to a settlement agreed between the former manager and The Friedkin Group, having parted ways with him after two years on Merseyside.

Dyche had managed miracles during his time at Goodison Park, but following a torrid start to the 2024/25 campaign, his days were numbered under new ownership.

He is believed to have left TFG unhappy by indicating his belief that he’d taken the club as far as he could, prompting the Americans to withhold part of his pay-off until survival was assured.

The decision to bring Moyes back to Merseyside already looks to be a stroke of genius by the American owners, with the Toffees already 13 points clear of the relegation zone.

While Ndiaye’s recent injury is a huge blow for Everton, the likes of Beto, Alcaraz and James Garner have shown exactly what they are capable of in his absence.

With back-to-back games against Man United and Brentford now, the Scot will need to show exactly what his team are made of, even at the worst of times when injuries are building up.

A pay-off for Dyche, of course, will put more pressure on the current financial situation at Goodison Park in the short-term, but parting ways with him was the best option for the long-term future.
