‘I expect it to get done’ – Aston Villa to sign Man United star for £30m less than price tag

Aston Villa have been tipped to sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United at a cut-price.

Back in May, Football Insider revealed that Garnacho was likely to leave Old Trafford this summer after falling out with Ruben Amorim.

The 21-year-old was unhappy that he didn’t start United’s Europa League final defeat to Tottenham, and took to social media to vent his frustrations.

Chelsea have been linked to the winger, but in recent weeks Villa have emerged as the frontrunners in the race for his signature.

Aston Villa’s former chief Keith Wyness– who served as CEO at Villa Park between 2016 and 2018 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the Midlands giants could seal a cut-price deal for Garnacho, due to Man United’s current situation.

Villa could sign Garnacho for £30m

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Villa could have a bid as low as £30million accepted for Garnacho, down from the original price of £60m.

Man United are desperate to offload some of their unwanted stars in the hope of raising funds, which is why they are willing to sell at a cut price.

Wyness added that the Garnacho situation highlights the Red Devils’ poor transfer strategy.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Unai Emery would be probably a good fit for him. I think it could be done. Villa are in the driving seat here.

“United are desperate to get rid of him so I think his price is going to drop. I’ve seen they started at £60m and I think he could end up going for about £30m. It’s that low because United’s transfer strategy has been poor.

“Villa are in a great place here to really make this happen at a lower price and I think that for Garnacho, that would be a much better move. He could do well at Villa, but I think it’ll have to be at the right price.

“Everybody knows that they’re tight on PSR, so United can’t squeeze them. I think the player will make it known that he wants to go there. So I expect that to get done probably near the end of the window if it’s going to get done at all.”

Forest lead race for Villa star

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest are the current front-runners in their pursuit of Aston Villa star Jacob Ramsey despite growing interest from rival clubs, sources have told Football Insider.

Forest are facing competition from the likes of Everton, who are planning an ambitious move for the midfielder as they aim to bolster David Moyes’ squad.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 18 July that Aston Villa could accept £50million for Ramsey, with Gibbs-White’s exit potentially facilitating the move.

Forest would be prepared to move ahead of rivals for his signature, with the allure of European football and willingness to spend big giving them an advantage.
