Scott Brown and Kieran Tierney react to Brendan Rodgers announcement at Celtic

Celtic’s latest announcement concerning Brendan Rodgers caught the attention of Scott Brown and Kieran Tierney on social media.

The Hoops have thrived under the 52-year-old’s reign once again, though Ally McCoist told Football Insider that Rodgers could seek a Celtic Park exit due to zero challenge from Old Firm rivals Rangers.

With just two Scottish Premiership clashes remaining, his side are 17 points clear at the top of the league table, with Barry Ferguson unable to stage a dramatic comeback at Ibrox.

Supporters were highly sceptical of the North Irishman’s return after leaving once before for Leicester City, though those same fans have been won around after an outstanding campaign with the Hoops.

Having also put an exciting run together in the Champions League, Rodgers looks to be receiving his well-earned plaudits, confirmed by the club’s latest announcement on social media.

Brendan Rodgers claims new award at Celtic

Taking to Instagram (13 May), the official club account wrote: “Brendan Rodgers has been named the Scottish Premiership Glen’s Manager of the Season 2024/25 after leading Celtic to their fourth league title in a row.

“Congratulations, Brendan,” simply rounded off with a clapping emoji, with club legend Brown and soon-to-be Celtic player Tierney liking the announcement.

Celtic preparing for another groundbreaking season in Scotland

Football Insider verdict

Rodgers will be keen to take the Hoops even further in the Champions League next season, having narrowly been knocked out of the round of 32 by Bayern Munich this term.

While Celtic and Rangers often dominate in the Scottish Premiership, transferring that form to European competition is not always possible for the teams, though both have enjoyed themselves outside of Scotland this season.

The Hoops will certainly need to make further additions to the squad this summer, with it being suggested that moves for Adam Idah and Arne Engels have not worked out for Celtic.

Despite this, Daizen Maeda has been tipped to leave Celtic, with the Hoops already losing Kyogo Furuhashi to Rennes during the winter transfer window.

That would certainly be a huge blow to those at Celtic Park ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, but if the Hoops mean business, the owners must back Rodgers with high-profile transfers this summer.
