‘Simon Jordan questions Danny Rohl twist amid Sheffield Wednesday turmoil’

Simon Jordan has weighed in on the Sheffield Wednesday’s takeover crisis as the club seek an end to the Dejphon Chansiri nightmare.

Wednesday are in financial turmoil under Chansiri, with players and staff currently not being paid and the club under a transfer embargo for the next three windows.

Players are already starting to leave the club, and Rangers have snapped up Djeidi Gassama to add to manager Russell Martin’s squad.

Chansiri has placed a £100million valuation on Wednesday, and a possible takeover of the club stalled between the Thai businessman and a consortium this week.

Rohl’s motives questioned as manager returns

Speaking on talkSPORT, former Crystal Palace owner Jordan believed there was no direction at the club and questioned manager Danny Rohl’s return after the German did not turn up for the beginning of pre-season.

“This feels like the blind leading the death, are the players ultimately unhappy with the manager full stop because I remember seeing reports about Sheffield Wednesday and some of the performances last year where they really turned it around and there seemed to be this universal belief in this manager,” Jordan commented.

“Are they unhappy with the manager full stop? Are they unhappy with the fact that he took a sabbatical because there were other issues reverberating around?”

Rohl was linked with the vacant Leicester job before the Foxes appointed former QPR boss Marti Cifuentes instead.

Middlesborough were also linked with Rohl before appointing Rob Edwards, whilst Keith Andrews wanted to add him to his Brentford backroom team.

Wednesday crisis continues to worsen

Football Insider Verdict

There still seems no positive ending to this disastrous period in Wednesday’s history as the club continue to look for new investors.

Chansiri’s high valuation will not be appealing to investors and threatens to ensure the club never gets sold, and FIFA and UEFA are powerless to stop the Wednesday owner as exclusively revealed by Football Insider.

John Textor and former owner Milan Mandaric have both ruled themselves out of the running to save the club.

Rohl returning is a positive for the players that do remain at the club as the German has done a remarkable job in tough circumstances at Hillsborough.

Rohl’s record in his spell at Sheffield Wednesday.

It will take a miracle without their transfer ban being lifted for Wednesday to stand a chance of staying up next season, but Rohl was appointed when the club was seven points adrift of safety and managed to pull of a great escape.

Wednesday came 12th last season and would have looked to have built on that under Rohl had the circumstances allowed.
