Sources: Cooper agrees to be new Barrow manager
Mark Cooper is set to be appointed the new Barrow manager, Football Insider understands.
The 52-year-old has been targeted by the League Two club after leaving Forest Green Rovers last month.
A source has told Football Insider Cooper has agreed terms with Barrow and is set to be unveiled as their new manager.
Caretaker manager Rob Kelly turned down the job at the end of the season after guiding the club to safety.
The Cumbrian outfit had two permanent managers during the season in David Dunn and Michael Jolley.
They ended the campaign in 21st place, five points above the relegation zone.
Cooper spent the previous five seasons in charge of Forest Green Rovers.
He won promotion to League Two via the National League play-offs in his first season in charge.
However, he left The New Lawn in April before Rovers finished in sixth position and lost their play-off semi-final to Newport County.
It will be a blueprint Barrow hope to follow. Before last season, they had spent 48 years in Non-league football.
Cooper has extensive EFL experience with spells in charge of Swindon Town and Notts County.
The former Fulham midfielder led Swindon to the League One play-off final in the 2014-15 campaign where they lost 4-0 to Preston North End.
Cooper was in charge of 255 Forest Green games and finished with a win percentage of 39.6.
In other news, Tottenham don’t want a big name who started their last five games to play for the club again.
