Aaron Ramsdale horrendous, Matheus Fernandes stuns – Southampton ratings v Leicester
Aaron Ramsdale’s ineptitude in goal condemned Southampton to their 28th Premier League defeat of the season against Leicester.
Goals from Jamie Vardy and Jordan Ayew gave the Foxes an easy victory in a match desperately lacking in quality.
The result means Southampton have just three matches to secure a point, or else they will be condemned to suffering the ignominy of matching Derby’s record of just 11 points in a Premier League season.

Southampton wither against a dominant Leicester
Aaron Ramsdale – 2
Miserable afternoon. The England international looked utterly unconvincing throughout, allowing the Foxes to score twice in an easy win.
Kyle Walker-Peters – 6
Walker-Peters is a target for West Ham, and the English defender is a consistent performer for his side and that was no different against Leicester.
Taylor Harwood-Bellis – 5
Harwood-Bellis could be heading to West Ham this summer, but the Southampton defender looked uncomfortable against the Foxes.
Jan Bednarek – 4
The big Polish defender struggled to keep pace with Leicester’s movement.
Jack Stephens (off for Dibling 46′) – 3
Not good enough. The 31-year-old was hooked at half-time after being made to look silly be Leicester’s attacker.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis poor vs Leicester
Ryan Manning – 7
Dangerous. The left wing-back was a constant threat down the Saints’ left-hand side, but his strikers lacked any semblance of clinical finishing.
Lesley Ugochukwu (off for Archer 79′) – 7
Chelsea were concerned Ugochukwu was not getting enough game time, but the Frenchman has been one of Southampton’s better players recently.
Flynn Downes – 5
Kept possession of the ball well but his passing was passive and unimaginative.
Matues Fernandes (off for Smallbone 57′) – 8 – Player of the Match
The best of a very bad bunch, the Portuguese midfielder will surely be leaving this summer as he is too good for the Championship.

Flynn Downes struggles in Southampton midfield
Kamaldeen Sulemana (off for Robinson 57′) – 4
Mr inconsistent. On his day, the Ghanaian is one of the Premier League’s most exciting players, but that was not on display against the Foxes.
Ross Stewart (off for Onuachu 46′) – 4
Dealt an awful hand due to the sheer lack of service provided to him, and was unlucky to be hooked at half-time after touching the ball just seven times.
Substitutes
Paul Onuachu (on for Stewart 46′) – 3
The tall striker missed a sitter and lacked composure in front of goal.
Tyler Dibling (on for Stephens 46′) – 5
The talented youngster found it difficult to really have an impact on the game after being introduced at half-time.
Will Smallbone (on for Fernandes 57′) – 5
Puzzling substitution, given Fernandes looked like the only player capable of making something happen.
Jay Robinson (on for Sulemana 57′) – 6
The 18-year-old was a threat after coming on, but Onuachu lacked the ability to capitalise on the chances created by the young winger.
Cameron Archer (on for Ugochukwu 79′) – 5
Offered little threat in his cameo on the pitch.
