‘Antoine Semenyo is the next to go at Bournemouth’, Andoni Iraola tipped to be next
Andoni Iraola’s future at Bournemouth could be decided by how the club choose to reinvest the funds gained by a potential sale of Antoine Semenyo.
That is according to football finance expert Dr Dan Plumley who has exclusively told Football Insider that Iraola will have to decide whether he is content with losing another star player at Bournemouth.
Iraola’s contract at Bournemouth expires at the end of the season, and the Spaniard has still yet to commit his future to the club.
Semenyo has a £65million release clause in his Bournemouth contract, which he signed in the summer, and is wanted by a number of Premier League clubs in January.

Andoni Iraola may have to ‘rebuild’ at Bournemouth
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Plumley believes Iraola’s ambition may lead him to depart the Cherries at the end of the campaign.
“We probably have to track that back a little bit further and look at all within this summer and sold three out of four of their main defenders. Good fees, but they lost a lot of their back line and, you know, they’ve had to rebuild a little bit,” Plumley said.
“Semenyo is the next one. So the manager is probably looking at that. But, of course, there are other things that the club are doing. They opened up a new training facility recently, which was state of the art.
“So, you know, they’re one of those clubs again at the minute that appear to be a stable Premier League club, and I think there’s a lot to be said for that.
“Now if they get into a model of, you know, again, selling players at good fees, then, okay, the manager’s going to have to decide how that fits with his philosophy, and he might want a move elsewhere as well.
“You know, it’s one of those where the manager’s always going to be weighed up. So there’s always timing within this, and Semenyo is one of those.
“But he’s also, you know, looking at the way the season will play out and where they end up in the league as well.”

Bournemouth’s concerning on-field form
Bournemouth’s 0-0 draw against Chelsea made it six games without a win for the club in the Premier League.
The Cherries have slipped to 13th in the table, but they are still just five points off the European places.
Iraola’s side finished ninth last season, and losing Semenyo, coupled with a lower league finish this time around, may determine his future at the club.
