Calum Chambers played the full 90 minutes as England’s under-21s recorded a thrilling 3-2 victory against Italy on Thursday evening and Arsenal fans reacted with approval on Twitter.
The centre-back almost scored a goal for England’s youth team before being involved in the build-up play which saw his side score a dramatic late winner.
England were trailing 2-1 at half-time despite taking an early lead through Demarai Gray within five minutes but Italy responded quickly scoring two first-half goals.
Lewis Baker equalised on the hour mark before Southampton’s Jack Stephens sealed the win with a thrilling 92nd minute goal as 11,550 supporters came out to support at St Mary’s.
The England Under-21s have now gone 15 games unbeaten and look in great shape as they continue their European Championship qualifying.
Chambers completed the full 90 minutes of their 3-2 victory and was instrumental in a number of positive moves for the young lions as he linked up with his former Southampton academy teammates.
The Gunners centre-back is currently on loan at Middlesbrough and has made five league starts for them already this season despite starting in Arsenal’s 4-3 defeat against Liverpool.
The 21-year-old scored during the opening weekend defeat before he was sent out on loan to Middlesbrough but Arsenal fans were encouraged by his performance.
