Chelsea fans all say the same thing as surprise Pedro Neto transfer update emerges

Chelsea winger Pedro Neto has been linked with a shock move to Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old, who has scored 10 goals in 42 games across all competitions this season, has another five years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge.

Neto has prompted frustrations of late, with the forward having registered just one assist in the Premier League since December.

He has thrived in the cup competitions, however, scoring a hat-trick against Hull City in the FA Cup last month, and producing an assist against PSG on Wednesday.

Chelsea transfer chiefs will review the Neto situation this summer, although the forward is not currently expected to leave.

Chelsea fans: ‘I’ll pay for the flight’

Neto hit the headlines for all of the wrong reasons as Chelsea were beaten by PSG in Paris on Wednesday.

The winger had been slightly too eager when looking to get the game restarted in stoppage time, pushing over a ball boy as he attempted to get the ball back.

Ex-PGMOL chief Keith Hackett exclusively told Football Insider that Neto is facing a ban for the incident, which sparked a brawl on the touchline.

The moment was just the latest grievance of a long list building up against the winger in the minds of many Chelsea fans.

The Portugal international, who arrived from Wolves in 2024 in a deal worth around £54million, is seen by many as a barrier to the Blues’ success, rather than an aid.

On Thursday, Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reported that Barcelona are monitoring Neto ahead of the summer, with agent Jorge Mendes involved.

Chelsea fans celebrated the news, with one fan writing on social media that he will “pay for the flight” to Spain.

Several others agreed with the sentiment, and one wrote: “Barca please take him for free, we don’t even want money for him”.

One even demanded that a GoFundMe (a donation platform) be set up for Barcelona to sign Neto, who was described by another fan as “inconsistent”.

Liam Rosenior decision to be key

Unfortunately for Chelsea fans, it seems clear that Liam Rosenior views Neto as a key part of his team.

The winger has failed to play a part in just two games since the Englishman was appointed, with his absences explainable by suspension and injury in both of them.

The other problem comes in the form of Barcelona’s finances. The Spanish club are currently in the process of attempting to drive down the £26m option in Marcus Rashford’s contract.

Given the money they paid for him and the years remaining on his deal, Chelsea would likely want at least triple that figure for Neto this summer.

Should Rosenior turn around and decide that the winger is no longer a part of his plans, however, that attitude could easily change.
