Jack Harrison reacts to Amadou Onana’s message amid Leeds United uncertainty

Jack Harrison has returned to Leeds United following his two-season loan spell with fellow Premier League club Everton.

The winger’s move to Merseyside was not a success, as he scored just one goal in 38 appearances across all competitions last term.

Meanwhile, Leeds won the Championship title last season in the 28-year-old’s absence, while fellow wideman Dan James excelled in the second tier, notching 12 goals and nine assists in 36 league outings.

Both the former Everton man and the Wales international featured as Daniel Farke’s men drew 0-0 with Manchester United in a pre-season clash on Saturday, 19 July.

Harrison reacts to Aston Villa star Onana’s message with Leeds set to make future decision

During his most recent season with Leeds, in 2022/23, Harrison notched six goals and 10 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.

But the former Manchester City man has been unable to re-establish that kind of form, leading to questions over whether he can help the Whites survive in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, his former Everton teammate Amadou Onana, now of Aston Villa, took to Instagram on Monday, 21 July, as he wrote: “Back like we never left!”

The Belgium international’s message attracted a like from Harrison.

Former Whites goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that Harrison has burned his bridges at Leeds.

Farke will be right to sanction Harrison’s exit

While the winger’s chances of playing for Leeds in the Premier League are bleak, Harrison played poorly against Manchester United on Saturday.

Harrison was not a strong asset for Everton

Parting company with the former England Under-21 international will be the right decision for Farke to make, regardless of the reinforcements the Elland Road side may make in wide areas this summer.

Both Willy Gnonto and James operate effectively in the same right-wing position as Harrison, making the 28-year-old the West Yorkshire club’s third-choice in his position.

Despite often appearing as a substitute last season, Gnonto scored nine goals and six assists in the Championship last term, proving that he boasts a greater attacking threat than that of Harrison.

Both the Italy Under-21 international and James have proven that they are ready to perform for Leeds in the Premier League, whereas Harrison’s exploits for Everton were unsatisfactory.

Meanwhile, Farke’s side have been tipped to sack Brenden Aaronson in an MOT Leeds News exclusive.
