‘James Maddison silences Roy Keane’ after brutal ‘Spurs dressing room’ claim

Tottenham fans believe James Maddison silenced Roy Keane after scoring the match-winner against Man United on his return to the team.

Spurs defeated the 20-time champions 1-0 on Sunday (16 February), with Maddison’s 13th-minute goal being enough to separate the two sides at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The England international immediately returned to the starting lineup after a calf issue, and he played a key role in Tottenham winning their first home league fixture since 3 November.

It was Maddison’s 10th goal of the season in all competitions, while he has also provided six assists throughout the campaign.

The 28-year-old has been missing since the game against Everton on 19 January and has missed four games in all competitions.

He was able to last 64 minutes against United as Spurs clung on to the result as they moved into 12th place in the Premier League table.

Roy Keane had trashed James Maddison’s potential impact

During the latest episode of The Overlap, Keane had been heavily critical when speaking about Maddison’s return to Tottenham.

He said, “We saw Maddison at Tamworth, he was taken off, Tamworth are non-league. People say ‘Maddison’s the man’ when’s he going to step up to the plate?

“He got relegated with Leicester, he’s about to get relegated with Spurs. Maddison isn’t bad, when he’s not at the darts. But let me tell you, if you think he’s going to come back and get Spurs top six, you’re in cuckoo land.

“He’s a talented player, but if you’re a player in the Spurs dressing room and Maddison’s back in the squad you wouldn’t be going, ‘He’s back today, we’re going to be fine.’

“England had a squad of 300 and he can’t even get in that, don’t kid yourselves, everybody.”

Tottenham fans believe James Maddison sent Keane a message

Maddison wasted little time to make an impact on the game, and he followed it up with a celebration that seemed to be aimed at the United legend.

The attacking midfielder ran to the camera and did a talking hand gesture before throwing an imaginary dart and doing a ‘shush’ pose.

Spurs fans believe that the “celebration was personal,” while others stated that it was a “clear clap back.”
