Real Madrid plot swoop to make Tottenham 21-year-old their long-term future – report

By Aramide Oladipo

Real Madrid are ready to throw their hat in the ring for Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli, according to a report.

Diario Gol have reported that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is very interested in the 21-year-old England international and it claims that Perez wants Alli to slowly progress into the new Galactico at the club.

At the start of the year, the Daily Mirror revealed that both Barcelona and Real Madrid were keeping a close eye on Alli’s displays at White Hart Lane.

This wouldn’t be the first time Real Madrid have taken an interest in Spurs’ best players – they signed Croatian midfielder Luka Modric in 2012 and the following season saw Welshman Gareth Bale move to the Bernabéu for a world record fee.

Talking in The Mirror, Bale recently had his say on the development of Dele Alli and he believes that the Englishman can play at the top level.

Dele Alli has enjoyed another brilliant season at Tottenham in his second full season at the clubcontributing 17 Premier League goals in 35 appearances.

Football Insider verdict:

There’s no doubt that Dele Alli would consider moving to Spain to play for arguably the biggest football club in world football. Real Madrid are on the verge of securing the La Liga title and also becoming the first team in the Champions League era to win back-to-back trophies. However, at this current moment in time, there is no guarantee that Alli would walk straight into the Madrid starting XI with Cristiano Ronaldo and co enjoying such a successful season. Alli is only 21 and he needs to be playing as much football as possible and a move to Real Madrid might hinder his progression. Tottenham are a club on the up and Alli is the key man so it would be better for him to continue his development under Mauricio Pochettino and then see what the future brings.
