Report: Everton eye teenage sensation, face competition from PL rivals

By Dominic Toner

Everton are interested in signing youngster Yorgan Agblemagnon, according to a report.

The Sun claim that the Toffees are eyeing a move for the 17-year-old goalkeeper, who currently plays for French Ligue 2 side Le Harve.

The report details that Premier League rivals Bournemouth are also keen on signing the talented youngster, while Championship club Blackburn are also interested.

Agblemagnon is currently playing for the Under-19s at Le Harve and is being tipped to be a top player in the future.

The shot stopper has been called up to Togo’s senior squad during the international break and will hope to make a positive impact.

Everton do already have Joel Robles and Maarten Stekelenburg competing for the gloves this season.

Football Insider verdict:

Everton should certainly consider bringing in another goalkeeper in the summer as Robles and Stekelenburg are not good enough to be the number one at a top side in the Premier League. Robles has proven himself this season to be a solid option, but the Toffees must surely be aiming higher if they want to challenge for a Champions League spot. Yorgan Agblemagnon is an emerging youngster that is surely not yet ready for the top-flight, but a deal for him could be appealing. The teenager could benefit from playing in Everton’s strong academy and have the potential to grow in a first team. Koeman should certainly be looking for a more high profile goalkeeper to come into the side for next season.

In other Everton transfer news, the club have urged Ronald Koeman to signed a reported target.
