Revealed: Pep Guardiola’s next move after he quits Man City – it’s not Saudi Arabia

Pep Guardiola could become the manager of the Spanish national team when he decides to leave Manchester City.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, amid continued speculation over Guardiola’s future at the Etihad.

The Spaniard’s contract at the Premier League club expires in 2027, and recent reports have linked the 55-year-old with a move to Al Ahli in Qatar.

Man City would be searching for a new manager for the first time in a decade, with Guardiola having won every major trophy during his 10 years at the club.

Pep Guardiola backed for Spain job

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Guardiola will move back to Spain when he departs Man City.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness can’t see any truth in the rumours that Guardiola could become the manager of Al Ahli.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I see him taking some time off, possibly going back to Spain.

“And I think me, potentially as a Spanish national coach at some stage, that’s where I would see him going. But it would be difficult to square his recent thoughts on social issues and politics.

“So I can’t see him actually going down to Qatar or the Saudi Premier League, so I don’t think there is that much in those stories at the moment.”

Man City expected to complete star signing

Wyness told Football Insider that he expects Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson to be a Man City player next season.

Man City have emerged as the clear favourites for the 23-year-old, who has attracted attention from multiple Premier League clubs for his performances at the City Ground.

Anderson recently scored against Man City to damage their title hopes, with the England international a key player in Nottingham Forest’s bid for Premier League survival.
