‘Sheffield Wednesday set for mass exodus after latest Dejphon Chansiri twist’

Sheffield Wednesday are set to witness several player exits following the latest twist in Dejphon Chansiri’s failing ownership.

In May, Chansiri failed to pay Sheffield Wednesday’s wage bill, while failure to do so for a second consecutive month would hold severe consequences.

Amid the Owls’ off-field struggles, boss Danny Rohl is set to depart with interest in his services from Leicester City.

The German steered Wednesday to a comfortable mid-table finish in the Championship last term despite the South Yorkshire club’s severe monetary struggles.

Sheffield Wednesday set for several departures as Chansiri fails to pay June’s wages

Thanks to Chansiri’s ongoing financial mismanagement, Sheffield Wednesday have been charged with several breaches of the EFL’s regulations.

Meanwhile, subject to a 15-day notice period, Owls players are allowed to leave Hillsborough on a free transfer, regardless of their contract length in the event that they go unpaid for a second consecutive month.

Reporting via X on Monday, 30 June, the Sheffield Star’s Joe Crann revealed: “It’s payday at Sheffield Wednesday, and at the time of writing, there are many players at the club who have not been paid for the month of June.

“Impossible to say all haven’t, but our investigation is yet to find one who has. Includes Under-21s too.”

Wednesday will have to appoint Henrik Pedersen with Rohl departure imminent

Amid their financial woes, Sheffield Wednesday are set to make £1.5million by selling academy starlet Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri to Premier League giants Manchester City.

But facilitating the teenager’s exit alone has not been enough for Chansiri to find the funds to meet June’s wage obligations at Hillsborough.

Meanwhile, after Rohl was absent from pre-season training, assistant coach Henrik Pedersen has emerged as a managerial candidate.

Courtesy of Chansiri’s continued blunders, the Owls will surely have to acquire Pedersen’s dugout services, as their ownership woes present them as an incredibly unattractive side for any potential external appointment to join.

Despite his failure to pay wages, Chansiri has rejected offers to buy Sheffield Wednesday, further fuelling frustration among the Owls faithful.

A prospective new manager other than Pedersen would surely only be willing to move to the South Yorkshire side if the Thai businessman sells up.

Thanks to the upcoming player departures, the Owls now look set for a Championship relegation battle next term, epitomising their sorry state of affairs.
