Stefan Borson: This is how much Liverpool will accept for Mohamed Salah

Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah could be set for a move to Saudi Arabia following his explosive comments at the weekend.

Liverpool drew 3-3 with Leeds United on Saturday (6 December), with the winger’s interview after the game at Elland Road drawing the media’s attention.

Salah admitted he has no relationship with Arne Slot after he was named on the bench for a third match in a row.

Football Insider revealed on Sunday (7 December) Saudi Pro League sides are expected to make offers to sign Salah in the January transfer window.

Liverpool could receive ‘amazing’ Mohamed Salah offer

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Liverpool would accept £50-75million to sell Salah in January.

Salah only signed a new two-year contract at Liverpool in April, extending his deal at Anfield until June 2027.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider before Salah’s comments at the weekend, Borson said: “Saudi clearly can bail Liverpool out of the situation.

“Not only will they presumably pay quite a hefty fee, but they’ll also take on his wage commitment over the next two years, which is really significant.

“Probably nobody else in the world can do that, so it’s an amazing opportunity for Liverpool if that deal can be done, and if they’ve taken the view that Salah can’t have an amazing second half of the season.”

There was talk earlier this year of Salah receiving a stake in Al-Hilal if he decided to move to Saudi before extending his contract with Slot’s side.

Liverpool would accept £75m Salah offer

Salah’s situation is complicated by him competing at the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt, with the tournament starting on 21 December and ending on 18 January.

However, Borson believes a move to Saudi remains a possibility for the 33-year-old next month.

“It feels very possible aside from the African Nations situation,” said Borson.

“Clearly, Liverpool would love to take £50-75m now and get him off the wage bill from a business perspective.

“It’s not the best ending of the Salah reign at Liverpool, but that might be where they are.”

Salah has been left out of Liverpool’s matchday squad for their Champions League clash away to Inter Milan on Tuesday (9 December).
