‘Tomas Soucek to Everton as TFG’s first purchase after Graham Potter decision’

Tomas Soucek has been heavily linked with a move to Everton and the move might not be far off becoming reality after recent updates.

The Czech international has been a fan favourite at the London Stadium ever since his permanent arrival in July 2020, going on to make 228 appearances while notching 37 goals and 13 assists.

Whether it’s for his goofy smile, wild celebrations on the pitch, or just the overall feeling he brings to the club, it has been difficult for many opposition fans to take a dislike to the unconventional midfielder.

However, it appears that Graham Potter, who is already under pressure at West Ham, does not follow the crowd when it comes to Soucek, only starting him in two of the last five matches.

The 30-year-old did not even make an appearance during the 2-1 defeat to Liverpool, and given that Virgil van Dijk‘s late header won the game, that might have been a costly decision.

David Moyes to reunite with former favourite Soucek

There are no signs of Soucek getting his regular spot back in the starting lineup, and it gets even worse for the midfielder, with Potter making his plans clear to rebuild the team’s midfield this summer.

According to The Athletic (11 March), the head coach is keen to strengthen in the middle of the park once the summer transfer window opens, and the rumour mill has already started spinning.

Edson Alvarez‘s future at West Ham is also now unclear, and so too is Guido Rodriguez’s, but this could all allow David Moyes to make his first purchase since taking over from Sean Dyche on Merseyside.

Football Insider understands that Soucek is open to re-joining Moyes this summer, with an offer between £10million and £15million potentially enough to seal a deal with the Hammers.

The Friedkin Group ready to begin new era at Bramley-Moore Dock

The Scot cherished the tall, gut-busting, no-nonsense midfielder during his time in East London, and that could be just the first of many new signings under The Friedkin Group.

The Toffees face a rebuild of their own this summer, with Idrissa Gueye still needing to agree new terms with Everton, and Abdoulaye Doucoure out of contract at the end of the season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s future at Everton also remains uncertain, but with multiple midfielders potentially departing the club in the coming weeks, a prompt move for Soucek makes total sense.

At 30 years of age, he still has life in his legs and could be a vital part of Moyes’ team moving into the next campaign, which will kick off at Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium.

A gritty, hard-tackling warrior is exactly the kind of player who would thrive at the new stadium, getting all the fans behind the team as a brand-new era begins for the Toffees.
