Tottenham fans hail ‘masterstroke’ Crystal Palace agreement: ‘One of the biggest roberies ever’

Tottenham fans haven’t had much reason to smile of late as their team are enduring another difficult domestic campaign.

The Lilywhites are languishing in 14th in the Premier League table after their 2-2 draw away at Burnley on Saturday, as frustrations continue to build among the fanbase.

Thomas Frank remains under significant pressure at Tottenham, although the current indication is that the club hierarchy remain firmly behind the manager at this stage of the season.

The North Londoners’ Champions League campaign has provided some respite from their awful fortunes in the league, and developments at Crystal Palace have now provided light in the dark for the fans.

Tottenham fans delighted with Brennan Johnson agreement

Tottenham agreed to sell Brennan Johnson to Crystal Palace earlier in the January transfer window, as they were able to recoup an impressive £35million for the winger.

The Wales international had struggled for form with Spurs since the start of the season, and that has continued at Selhurst Park, as he has failed to notch a single goal contribution throughout his opening five games for his new club.

Johnson’s displays have already begun to frustrate the Palace faithful, with one fan suggesting on X that they were “baffled” by the idea of spending “more than a tenner” on the wideman.

However, Palace fans’ frustrations have prompted delight among the Tottenham fanbase, as they have taken to X to praise the deal that they agreed with their fellow Londoners.

One fan labelled the sale as “one of the biggest robberies ever,” while another branded the transfer as a “masterstroke” from Spurs.

Another supporter suggested that Johnson looks “even more anyonmous” than he did for Spurs, while the realisation from Palace fans has quickly set in.

Spurs could also lose Micky van de Ven in the coming months

Football Insider recently revealed that Micky van de Ven could push to leave Tottenham in the coming months if their form doesn’t improve between now and the end of the campaign.

The Dutchman has been a standout performer for the Lilywhites in recent years, but his desire to play Champions League football looks set to cause issues for his club in the summer.

Frank’s men are currently a long way away from even competing for a place in the top four, and that could see Van de Ven angle for a move elsewhere at the end of the season.

The centre-back is under contract until 2029, and Spurs would hold out for a massive fee on the 24-year-old, but it is still not a promising situation for them at the moment.
