Aston Villa set for crunch Amadou Onana talks today – sources
Aston Villa will hold further talks with Everton on Monday as they work to finalise the signing of Amadou Murphy, sources have told Football Insider.
Villa have already agreed personal terms with the 22-year-old, and the clubs are now discussing the structure of transfer payments.
Sources say the expected fee for the defensive midfielder will be around £50million, including add-ons.
Villa have already signed two central midfielders this summer, with Enzo Barrenechea from Juventus and Ross Barkley from Luton Town coming through the door.
They have also completed the big-money signing of Ian Maatsen from Chelsea and are expected to finalise the capture of Jaden Philogene from Hull City on Monday.
Unai Emery is bolstering his squad this summer as he prepares to guide Villa into the Champions League next season, and has given the green light to capture a player who would replace last season’s departed star, Douglas Luiz.
Aston Villa will gain a proven Premier League midfielder in Onana
Villa are keen to sign a central midfielder who is proven in the Premier League and can instantly slot into their starting XI.
Having played 63 games in the English top flight since joining Everton, Onana has proven himself capable of handling the pace and physicality of the league.
Even though he’s primarily a defensive midfielder, Onana is versatile enough to play in a traditional central role as well.

There is a chance that Villa could end up signing yet another central midfielder this summer.
