Crystal Palace have signed a gem and won’t sell him to Man City or Chelsea – O’Rourke
Crystal Palace have seen success with one of their key players, but he is now attracting interest from Man City and Chelsea.
Crystal Palace have enjoyed an upturn in form recently, beating Manchester United and advancing to the next round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win over Doncaster.
Daniel Munoz has been a player Oliver Glasner has relied on since his arrival and has been a revelation at right-back, catching the attention of top clubs.
However, Football Insider revealed that Crystal Palace are not interested in selling Munoz despite growing interest from Man City, Chelsea, and Barcelona.
Transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke has reinforced this, stating that the club are looking to keep hold of their right-back.
Daniel Munoz has established himself at Crystal Palace despite Man City interest
Speaking on Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, O’Rourke shared that the Eagles have “no plans” to sell their right-back, who has become a key player in South London.
O’Rourke revealed: “I would be surprised. To be fair to Munoz, he’s been very impressive for Palace since he arrived from Genk in January 2024. He’s really established himself as a key player in Oliver Glasner’s side. Great attacking full-back. That’s because he plays in a wing-back position for Crystal Palace.
“He wouldn’t play that if he went to Manchester City. They would have him as a right-back because obviously, they need to find a replacement for Kyle Walker. I’m not sure Munoz would be the answer for City, in all honesty.
“I think he’s obviously very good going forward. He’s got three goals and four assists this season as well. I just think probably his age and profile just don’t fit with Man City right now and what they’re trying to do as they freshen up the squad.

“He turns 29 in May, the Colombian international, so I think obviously his age would probably count against him if City were thinking of making a move for Munoz. But like I said, I think he’s been instrumental for Palace. He’s really impressed me whenever I’ve watched him getting forward.
“I think for Palace right now, he’s under contract until 2027 and they hold an option for another year in that one, so basically, he’s there until 2028. So I think Palace have no plans to lose him.
“I’m sure they’ll maybe even be thinking of sitting down and discussing a new contract with him sooner rather than later just to reward him for his fine form in the last year that he’s been at the club because I think he has become such a key man.
“They’ll be looking to keep hold of Munoz and not lose their best players because there’ll be other players at Selhurst Park who could be leaving the club this summer. The likes of Marc Guehi, who’s coming to the end of his contract with just over 12 months left as well.
“So they won’t want to lose a key player like Munoz as well, but it just shows how well he’s done that you’ve got the likes of City, Chelsea, and even Barcelona being linked with him. So credit to Palace for identifying him, spotting him in the Belgian league, and bringing him to the Premier League because he has been a revelation, really.”
Man City to look elsewhere for Kyle Walker replacement

Man City did not bring in a direct replacement after Kyle Walker left the club to join AC Milan on loan in January until the end of the season.
City fans were critical of Walker’s departure, given the dramatic nature of his exit and the club’s poor run of form this season.
With Palace determined to keep Munoz, Pep Guardiola’s side will have to explore alternative options in the summer transfer window.
