Enzo Maresca to quit Chelsea? It’s not as fanciful as it seems

Enzo Maresca is one of the most in-form managers in world football based on last season as clubs monitor his superb performances with Chelsea.

Ahead of the Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest on 18 October, Chelsea will continue to be without the injured Cole Palmer.

Although, Maresca will be thrilled by the news that Enzo Fernandez is fit to start against Nottingham Forest after suffering an inflammation of the knee with Argentina.

Sources told Football Insider that Real Madrid remain interested in signing Fernandez in the upcoming windows.

However, another pressing concern for the Blues is holding on to their hugely successful Italian manager who is getting attention from across Europe given his recent Conference League and Club World Cup plaudits.

Juventus keeping tabs on former star Maresca

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Juventus are monitoring the former Leicester City boss’ situation at Stamford Bridge.

The Turin giants are in their first campaign under Igor Tudor, yet are looking ahead to the possibility of bringing back Maresca who played at the club between 2000-2004.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast over the chance of the Italian heading back to his old team, I explained: “Potentially, obviously he does have links with Juventus.

“He played there for a long time in his career and that’s really where he made his name at Juventus as a player.

“He’s an Italian so you would imagine he might be interested in the opportunity somewhere down the line to manage his former club.”

Talks over a new long-term contract for the talented Turk are in the works with the Italian giants seeing him as part of the exciting future.

However, despite chances looking slim, Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness exclusively told Football Insider on 15 October that Chelsea are the likeliest Premier League side to bring in Yildiz.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Man United are all interested in the Turkey international yet the Blues will have to submit an offer Juventus cannot refuse if they want to have any chance of landing his signature.
