Ben Chilwell and Levi Colwill respond as ‘grateful’ Reece James pens new Chelsea deal
Reece James has attracted attention from up and down the Premier League after signing a new contract at Chelsea.
The 26-year-old has become one of the first names on the teamsheet at Stamford Bridge, even moving into the centre of midfield over the last couple of seasons when called upon.
He has rightfully earned the captain’s armband in West London, especially given that his injury problems appear to be behind him now, and the full-back is now being rewarded for his performances.
Chelsea’s transfer plans will already be taking shape, but the Blues are already getting business done ahead of the summer window, with James now contracted at Stamford Bridge until 2032.

James has risen to the very top at Stamford Bridge, signing a new deal to keep him at the club for another six years, writing on Instagram, “Twenty thirty two. Forever grateful,” with a blue heart emoji.
Players from up and down the Premier League flocked to social media to like the post, such as Morgan Rogers, Cole Palmer and even Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior.
And showing huge admiration for the right-back, former Blues winger Willian, and Levi Colwill replied with blue hearts, while Ben Chilwell commented: “Maa boy. Great news,” with a clapping emoji.
This is not to say that Chelsea won’t be doing business in the summer. Rosenior will absolutely want to put his own spin on the team, but making sure James stays at the club would likely have been a top priority.
Who else should Chelsea agree new deals with?
Several players are being linked with moves across the Premier League, so signing them up to new deals would make a real statement ahead of the summer window.
Cole Palmer is reportedly homesick, having come from Manchester, so sealing his future at Stamford Bridge would ease a lot of concerns over losing the dynamic playmaker to a rival.
Another smart move would be to improve Trevoh Chalobah’s terms. The central defender’s current deal ends in the summer of 2028, and having played almost every game, he has become key for the Blues.
Rosenior is likely to still go back into the market, with Chelsea still nowhere near their very best, but the manager has an eye-watering amount of talent to choose from at this moment in time.
