‘David Sullivan pulls pathetic West Ham move’ – Fans explode at Jhon Duran news

West Ham chairman has sparked fury among the club’s fans after pulling a “classic” move with the ongoing failure to sign Jhon Duran.

The Colombian international has been previously linked with the Hammers after coming close to signing in the summer transfer window, and has once again been the subject of interest.

Transfer guru David Ornstein reported on 20 January that the bid was “expected to be rejected” as Aston Villa have “no intention” of selling the 19-year-old forward [David Ornstein via X].

While some fans might’ve been excited at the idea of a big-money signing this January, the majority have slammed the bid as a “pathetic” and poorly thought-out move.

West Ham fans voice frustration with David Sullivan

Graham Potter’s side are desperate to bolster their attacking options this month following injuries to Michail Antonio, Jarrod Bowen, and Niclas Füllkrug.

Duran, meanwhile, has been in superb form for Villa, scoring 12 goals in 27 games. However, doubts over his long-term future at the club persist.

Football Insider reported in November that Duran is keen to be a first-choice striker rather than playing a supporting role and that he could leave the club.

With two high-profile strikers competing for one spot in Unai Emery’s team, he could eventually face a difficult decision. But for now, they seem unwilling to part ways with the Colombian forward.

Despite coming close to signing Duran in the summer, West Ham’s renewed bid was swiftly dismissed, as Villa remain firm on retaining the 21-year-old.

The rejection has only fuelled frustration among the West Ham fanbase, with many directing their ire at Sullivan.

One supporter criticised the move as “just trying to keep fans happy” while another called it “pathetic” and “what we’re accustomed to”.
