Exclusive: Aberdeen now in race to sign Bromley star Omar Sowunmi after Stephen Robinson hire
Aberdeen, Oxford United, Bolton, Barnsley and Plymouth are among a number of clubs targeting Bromley defender Omar Sowunmi, sources have told Football Insider.
Sowunmi, 30, has been a standout for Bromley this season helping them to the top of League Two, and they are in with a huge chance of promotion.
The former Ipswich youngster has been clocked as the fasted centre-back in all four leagues this season, and has also chipped in with six goals.
Bromley are bracing themselves for offers for Sowunmi in the summer and are reluctant to let him go as he remains a crucial part of Andy Woodman’s plans.
While the length of his contract at Hayes Lane has not been publicly disclosed, clubs are keeping a close eye on his situation ahead of the summer.
Omar Sowunmi attracting interest in Bromley exit
At least five teams from across the Championship, League One and Scottish Premiership are all keeping an eye on Sowunmi ahead of the summer window.
The 30-year-old has made 35 appearances for the Ravens so far this season and played a key role in what has been a hugely successful period for the club.
Aberdeen and Oxford United are among those keen to lure him away, while Bromley’s potential League One rivals Bolton, Barnsley and Plymouth are also keen.
Woodman will be keen to keep his best players at the club if they achieve promotion this season, however, and is reluctant to see Sowunmi leave this summer.
Bromley blocked Jude Arthurs offers
Sowunmi is not the only big-name star at Hayes Lane being linked with a move away, as Bromley’s impressive season has alerted clubs to their best players.
Football Insider exclusively revealed last month that Bromley blocked offers for Jude Arthurs during the mid-season transfer window.
The Ravens turned down all offers for the 24-year-old and had no intentions of letting him go despite him heading into the final five months of his contract.
The central midfielder has been an integral part of their rise over the last couple of seasons where they have become an established EFL side.
Woodman was determined to keep hold of his most important players heading into the second half of the season as they target another promotion campaign.
