Joel Piroe sends Leeds message after astonishing twist
Leeds United have taken a huge step towards returning to the Premier League by defeating Sheffield United on Monday night in astonishing circumstances (24 February).
The Whites had to come back from behind after a costly mistake by Illan Meslier in the 14th minute of the game, but they were forced to be patient in making that happen.
Junior Firpo drew Daniel Farke’s side level in the 72nd minute as Leeds pushed for a winner, which came in the 89th minute via Ao Tanaka.
Joel Piroe then wrapped the game up in style with a final goal in the 90th minute as Leeds showed their ability to push until the final whistle.
It proved to be a crucial victory for the Yorkshire giants as it not only kept them top of the Championship, but it extended their gap over the Blades.
Leeds now sit five points above Sheffield United with both teams having played 34 games this season.

Piroe continued to prove his attacking qualities against Sheffield United, getting his reward late on for leading the line throughout the game.
The 25-year-old has now scored 15 goals and provided six assists in 36 matches this season in all competitions.

Leeds United will be without Ethan Ampadu moving forward
It wasn’t all good news for the Whites on Monday night as club captain Ethan Ampadu wasn’t in the match day squad.
Farke has confirmed in his pre-match interview that the Wales international has a serious knee injury, with the versatile midfielder set to be out of action until at least March.
However, Ampadu still congratulated his teammates after the game by claiming it was an “incredible fight from the boys.”
