‘Anthony Gordon has lost the respect of Newcastle fans’ as footage re-analysed
Newcastle United failed to reach the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Sunday (2 March) in a dramatic game against Brighton that has severely impacted their upcoming EFL Cup final.
It was an end-to-end fixture at St James’s Park, with Newcastle’s initial 1-0 lead being pegged back by the Seagulls when former Magpies star Yankuba Minteh scored in the 44th minute.
The two teams were then both reduced to 10 men after Anthony Gordon and Tariq Lamptey were sent off for separate incidents which increased the demands on their respective squads.
Danny Welbeck produced late heartbreak for Newcastle when he found the back of the net in the 114th minute to win the game for the Seagulls.

Anthony Gordon will miss out on the EFL Cup final
Gordon’s red card came in the 83rd minute in a moment of madness as he let out his frustrations in an off-the-ball incident with Jan Paul van Hecke.
The England international could be seen pushing the Brighton star in the head as he failed to get the ball, which earned him a straight red card.
The red card put the Magpies on the back foot in this game, but it also means the winger will be unavailable in Newcastle’s upcoming EFL Cup final against Liverpool.

The Toon Army were left feeling furious about Gordon’s red card, not only for the way it impacted the game against Brighton, but also what it means for the EFL Cup final.
