Brentford drop Yoane Wissa hint as training ground footage emerges

Yoane Wissa has been extensively linked to Newcastle with the Democratic Republic of Congo international looking to push for a move up north.

Wissa continues to be embroiled in transfer rumours that link him to a move away from Brentford this summer.

Brentford set out their conditions for a move earlier this week and Newcastle responded with a renewed offer that was turned down by the Bees.

Keith Andrews took over as Brentford head coach, replacing former head coach Thomas Frank who departed for Tottenham this summer.

Andrews, Frank’s former set piece coach, has had to oversee a summer exodus with numerous bug names leaving Brentford.

The club’s official account have now dropped a hint regarding the future of their next big star who may be moving out of the club.

Brentford drop hint as Yoane Wissa saga reaches boiling point

Wissa’s transfer has been linked to the long saga taking place with Alexander Isak, with Wissa being seen as a replacement for the Swedish international on Tyneside.

However, Brentford’s official club Instagram account have posted a story that hints Wissa’s future may still lie in West London.

The footage showed Wissa participating in first team training ahead of the club’s game against Aston Villa at the weekend, accompanied by the caption: “all intentions on Villa.”

Wissa had removed all references to Brentford from his Instagram account earlier this week after frustrations built around his move to Newcastle stalling.

Andrews will be searching for all of his forwards to fire as his side look to bounce back from their opening weekend defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Forest sank Brentford 3-1 and pressure is beginning to mount on Andrews who is in a tough situation at the GTech Community Stadium.

Wissa’s inclusion would be a needed boost, as Andrews looks to stabilise the club after such a tumultuous summer.

Brentford under threat as new clubs eye Premier League survival

Football Insider verdict

Brentford have enjoyed four seasons in the Premier League since their promotion from the Championship in 2021, beating Swansea City 1-0 in the Playoff final.

Finishes of 13th, ninth, 16th and 10th have followed, but following two successive seasons of all three newly promoted sides being relegated, that trend looks to be under threat.

Sunderland won convincingly at home beating West Ham United 3-0, while Leeds scraped past Everton winning their season opener 1-0 thanks to a late Felix Nmecha penalty.

As the mood around the Premier League’s new clubs is buoyed by early wins, it may be dampened at West Ham and Brentford, as their slow starts could see them in danger of the drop.

Neither club have sufficiently strengthened this summer whilst also losing major assets, while Sunderland and Leeds have both heavily invested, showing their desire to fight hard for survival.

As the Premier League’s newcomers step up their approach, some of the Premier League’s recent mainstays may need to rethink theirs in what promises to be one of the league’s most competitive seasons in recent memory.
