Bruno Guimaraes responds to Harvey Barnes’ message ahead of Newcastle vs Liverpool

Newcastle United gave themselves the best possible momentum heading into the EFL Cup final by defeating West Ham on Monday (10 March).

Bruno Guimaraes got on the end of a cross from Harvey Barnes to score the only goal of the game to secure a crucial three points.

The victory saw the Magpies climb into sixth place in the Premier League table as they look to keep their Champions League aspirations alive.

Eddie Howe’s side are now level on points with Man City, and while Pep Guardiola’s men sit above them due to goal difference the gap has been closed on the top four.

Newcastle sit just two points behind Chelsea right now as Newcastle prepare to make the run in one to remember.

Barnes’ performance was one that impressed Newcastle fans despite the fact industry insider Mick Brown revealed to Football Insider that Newcastle may be forced to sell him in the summer due to their financial position.

Newcastle United’s squad has been depleted

Barnes is likely to start against Liverpool at Wembley due to the fact that Anthony Gordon is suspended for that game after being sent off against Brighton.

Gordon’s red card resulted in fans losing respect for him and has stretched the options available to Howe for their biggest game of the season.

However, Howe will also be without Lewis Hall due to a foot injury which should lead to Kieran Trippier starting against the Reds.

Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman are both also dealing with injury problems at the moment which Newcastle are having to contend with.
