
Insider: West Ham expected to offer 21-year-old emerging star a contract soon

West Ham are expected to offer emerging midfield star Josh Cullen a contract soon, according to a club insider.
The 21-year-old is highly thought of in the club’s academy and spent the last year and a half starring for League One club Bradford.
Now, with two years left on his current deal at the Hammers, well known in the know ‘ExWHUEmployee’ has told via his personal Twitter account that the club are looking to offer him a deal reflective of his first team squad status, while also stating he was a “big factor” in why the club decided to let go of Havard Nordtveit.
Cullen has previously made just four senior appearances for West Ham with his debut coming in July 2015 in a Europa League clash against Andorran club Lusitanos.
He has however played a key role in helping Bradford to two fifth placed finishes in the last two seasons, starring 63 times for the Yorkshire club.
The youngster will now be hoping to push forward into the West Ham first team and gain some Premier League experience.
Football Insider verdict:
A lot of anger has been aired towards West Ham chiefs in recent times due to David Gold’s social media statements over the club’s young players. Additionally, manager Slaven Bilic failed to hand any minutes to a club’s teenager in the last campaign. However, this move could bring some faith back to the Hammers’ fan base that the club are looking to promote their young prospects and offer first team opportunities. The east London club have a fine history of bringing through players and supporters will be hoping Cullen’s name will come next.
