Gabriel Agbonlahor expects on-loan Tottenham striker Carlos Vinicius to sign a permanent deal with the club in the summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Aston Villa and England forward was left very impressed by the 25-year-old’s display against Marine in the FA Cup third-round on Sunday.
Vinicius scored a hat-trick against the eighth-tier side at the weekend with two close-range finishes before a cool lob just before the break.
The Brazilian moved to north London from Benfica on an initial season-long loan for a £2.7million fee with Spurs having an option to make the deal permanent for £40.83million.
Asked by Football Insider whether Vinicius has done enough warrant Tottenham approving a permanent transfer, Agbonlahor said: “Yes, 100 per cent.
“He doesn’t look like he’s going to kick up a fuss for not starting ahead of Harry Kane.
“When he gets to play he scores goals. I don’t care if it’s against Marine, he’s still got to put the ball in the back of the net, he still has to find the top corner with his hat-trick goal. Those finishes are great finishes.
“All game, I liked his movement, he was so strong, he holds the ball up.
“He offers a second option for Spurs as well. Say they need a different option in a game, he [Jose Mourinho] can bring him on and go two up front with Kane and he can add that physicality.
“I really like him and I think he will definitely be one that signs on a permanent.”
Vinicius has now scored six goals in nine appearances for Tottenham but is yet to find the net in the Premier League.
He has been limited to just 15 minutes of league action this season for the north London giants.
In other news, Football Insider can reveal Stoke City are in advanced talks to sign a Tottenham ace with three appearances this season.
