100%-tackle star among Tottenham’s three winners from draw vs Sunderland

Tottenham held Sunderland to a point in north London and extended their unbeaten streak to three games.

Ben Davies’ close-range finish on 30 minutes was cancelled out by Brian Brobbey’s equaliser in the closing stages.

The point means Thomas Frank’s side remain in the bottom half of the Premier League table, with their hopes of Champions League football fading.

Ben Davies

Managed to convert Micky van de Ven’s shot to score his first Premier League goal of the season on a rare start for the 32-year-old.

Davies, who could leave Spurs for free in January, was preferred over Djed Spence for this match, and the Welsh international kept Sunderland winger Eliezer Mayenda quiet.

Spence will remain the first choice left-back under Frank, but Davies’ experience is still a useful quality in his squad.

Micky van de Ven

The Spurs centre-back put in another impressive individual performance in defence, with Frank’s side nearly making it three consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League before Brobbey’s late equaliser.

Spurs are planning contract talks with van de Ven amid interest from Europe’s top clubs, and keeping the Dutchman should be a priority for Frank.

As the hosts came under greater pressure in the second half, van de Ven continued to deal with everything thrown at him.

Richarlison

Spurs continued to frustrate the home fans with their lack of clear-cut chances created, but Richarlison was a rare bright spark in attack.

Striker Richarlison, who could depart Spurs, looked lively up-front and was a threat to the visitors defence in an attempt to create opportunities for either himself or his team mates.

The 28-year-old forced bookings to two Sunderland players, had three shots, and was involved in 17 duels.
