‘£100m, cheers Man City’, ‘£100m release clause’ – Tottenham fans say the same thing about Pedro Porro after latest

Tottenham fans on social media demand that their board give Pedro Porro a long-term contract extension after his performance in the 1-0 win over Burnley on Friday evening.

Spurs are through to the fourth round of the FA Cup after Porro’s late goal was the difference at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

After a goalless first half, Porro broke the deadlock with a superb goal from range in the 78th minute and Ange Postecoglou’s side were able to hold off the Clarets to book their spot in the next round.

Porro’s match-winning strike was his first goal of the season in all competitions, although the Spaniard has also registered seven assists across his 20 appearances.

Porro signed for Spurs in January 2023 from Sporting Lisbon on an initial loan deal before the North London side made the deal permanent in the summer for a fee of £39million.

As reported by The Athletic, Porro signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with Spurs once the move was made permanent.

The 24-year-old right-back has also been linked with a move back to Man City two years after he left the club without making an appearance.

Spurs fans are eager to tie Porro down to a ‘lifetime contract’ following his display on Friday night, with supporters keen to fend off interest from City.

Tottenham now have a nine-day break before they return to action with a Premier League clash against Man United at Old Trafford on 14 January.

They will discover their FA Cup fourth-round opponents on Monday (8 January).
