‘We need to buy’, ‘Here we are again’ – Liverpool fans react to new injury blow

By Abigail Withey

Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to vent their frustration after the club confirmed that midfielder Adam Lallana could be out for months with a nasty thigh injury.

The 29-year-old sustained the problem during the Reds’ recent performance in the Audi Cup final against Atletico Madrid which took place in Munich on Wednesday night.

The attacker will be sidelined for up to three months and will miss out on the club’s Premier League opening matches in August and September at a minimum.

Liverpool supporters have expressed their disappointment with the midfielder’s injury on social media and said that if boss Jurgen Klopp had signed a midfielder during the transfer window Lallana’s absence would not be as much of an issue for the squad.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

The England midfielder joined Liverpool from Southampton back in 2014 for a fee over £26 million and has since become an integral part of the Merseyside squad.

Lallana continued to impress throughout the previous season when the playmaker scored eight goals and provided an impressive seven assists throughout his 35 appearances across all competitions.

While the Englishman begins his lengthy rehabilitation process his fellow teammates will be preparing for their Premier League opening match away at Watford next weekend, where the Reds will be hoping to snatch a strong three points.
