Everton expected 4-3-3 v Stoke City: Five summer recruits to start

By Abigail Withey

Everton are expected to sport five of Ronald Koeman’s summer signings in their first Premier League game against Stoke on Saturday.

Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Sandro Ramirez and Wayne Rooney are all expected to take to the pitch at Goodison Park for the 3pm kick-off.

Koeman is expected to play the same defenders that featured during their final pre-season friendly against Sevilla last Sunday.

Youngster Mason Holgate and experienced Leighton Baines will feature in the full-back positions, while skipper Phil Jagielka and new recruit Keane will hold down the fort in the centre of the defence.

In midfield, defensive middleman Morgan Schniederlin should feature alongside fellow newcomer Klaasen and Idrissa Gueye.

Finally, forward Sandro will most likely lead the line, with the expected support of Premier League veteran Rooney and Kevin Mirallas on the right.

The Toffees will be keen to secure three points in their opening Premier League game as their next match in the competition will see the squad head to the Etihad to face Pep Guardiola’s mighty Manchester City side.
