Sky Sports pundit and former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson has made his prediction for this weekend’s crucial north London derby.
The Premier League is returning after a two-week international break with Merson’s former club facing their bitter rivals Tottenham in Saturday’s early kick-off.
Merson has told Sky Sports that he is predicting a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium.
The two club’s have had different starts to the season, with Spurs are flying under Mauricio Pochettino.
They currently sit third in the Premier League table and have already secured their place in the last-16 of the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal have lost four of their eleven Premier League games and will be seven points behind their bitter rivals with another defeat on Saturday.
It is a must win game for both clubs with Tottenham eight-points behind unbeaten leaders Manchester City in this season’s title race.
Spurs boss Pochettino is unbeaten in his six Premier League north London derbies against Arsenal, which interestingly includes three successive 1-1 draws at the Emirates.
He is the only full-time Spurs manager to have managed more than one north London derby in the Premier League and remain unbeaten.
He will be hoping to continue that record on Saturday at the expense of his opposite number Wenger.
