£2.5m Leeds player details major injury boost on Instagram

Leeds United forward Tyler Roberts has offered a major injury boost on Instagram by suggesting that he has returned to training.

Roberts, 19, joined the Whites from West Brom for £2.5million in the January transfer window but is yet to make his debut after suffering a shin injury almost as soon as he arrived in Yorkshire.

On his Instagram story on his personal account, Roberts said that it “felt good putting these back on” on an image of him back in the Leeds training gear.

Roberts joined Leeds on transfer deadline day and was left out of the squad for his first potential game against Cardiff.

Thomas Christiansen was sacked after a 4-1 defeat and Roberts then suffered a cracked shin, which could mean that he may have to wait until next season to make his United debut.

It’s really interesting to see how Roberts will get on at Leeds. He never quite cut it at West Brom and never really pushed himself into the first-team despite the Baggies being a club that is willing to give academy products a chance to impress. Roberts played well for Walsall on loan in the first-half of the campaign but he has never struck as a prolific goalscorer. Can he do that at Leeds? This injury setback will not help him one bit but hopefully an intense summer programme can help him get himself back to full fitness ready for the 2018/19 season.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites needs to re-sign this £60,000-a-week international attacker in the summer as he nears the end of his deal.
