With the Daily Record reporting that Liam Henderson is set to be offered a deal by Serie B side Bari after impressing on a trial there, the midfield should grasp the opportunity to test himself in Italy.
Henderson is rated by Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, but he is unfortunate to play in a position – central midfield – which is the busiest area of the Hoops squad, with the likes of Scott Brown, Olivier Ntcham, Callum McGregor and others trying to win two places in the first-team.
As a result of the Bhoys constantly adding to their midfield number, Henderson has saw his opportunities dwindle, and he has only played 23 minutes of first-team football this season.
Despite bursting into the first-team at only 18-years-old, Henderson has always found it difficult to hold down a first-team spot, and has spent time on loan at Rosenborg and Hibs, where he helped the Edinburgh side end their Scottish Cup drought.
The best thing for the player would be to move on loan to Europe with Bari until the end of the season, then join permanently if he does well in the summer.
Henderson will leave the Bhoys with the best wishes of the fans as he begins a new, unexpected stage in his career.
