22-year-old must be sold: Three things we learned about Tottenham in win v Bournemouth
COMMENT By Danny Wright
Tottenham walked away from White Hart Lane with all three points on Saturday after easing to a 4-0 victory against Bournemouth.
Here, Football Insider analyses three things we learned from Spurs during the game:
22-year-old must be sold
Harry Kane’s successful full return from injury and Son Heung-Min’s goalscoring form must spell the end of Vincent Janssen’s short time at Tottenham. The 22-year-old has been awful for Spurs over the course of the season and Mauricio Pochettino should cut his losses and transfer list the lacklustre striker in the summer. Janssen did come off the bench to get Spurs’ fourth goal of the game – but this shouldn’t make up for what has been an utterly forgettable campaign. Pochettino must look for a better back-up striker and he might as well begin to look at players in the academy that could step up.

Dele Alli, Kane and Christian Eriksen get all of the plaudits at Tottenham but one man that goes under the radar much too often is Son. The South Korean international found the net in the first half to get his fifth goal in his last four matches. He is now on 19 goals for the campaign across all competitions – a stat that isn’t mentioned very often by pundits. The 24-year-old has also had his hand in eight assists proving that he is one of the Premier League’s most underrated players. He could easily make a case for himself to be named in the team of the season solely down to his recent displays.
Chelsea need to watch out
Antonio Conte will know that his side have to walk away from Manchester United on Sunday with all three points if they want to relieve some of the pressure they are currently under. Tottenham are in amazing form at the moment and it’s only Chelsea’s mid-season run that sees them still sit top of the pile. United have not lost a league match since October so the Easter Sunday showdown at Old Trafford will be a very tense affair which Conte simply cannot afford to lose. If there’s just a four, or even five, point gap come the next round of fixtures then we are in for a tightly-contested race for the crown.
