Modou Barrow has revealed that Leeds have been trying to sign him since last summer.
The 24-year-old wide forward gave some insight into his loan move to the Yorkshire giants after completing a deadline day transfer from Swansea.
Barrow will spend the remainder of the campaign at Elland Road and is available for selection for the first time on Sunday, when his new side make the short journey to face Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield.
At Leeds, Barrow will be reunited with Garry Monk after being signed by the manager when he was at the Swansea helm in the summer of 2014.
The Gambia international, who is predominantly a right winger, revealed how long Monk has been trying to bring him to Yorkshire.
“I knew of interest from Leeds in the summer and I was willing to come and help the team, but unfortunately it didn’t happen, but now I am finally here, I am ready to push on and go,” said Barrow, as quoted by the official Leeds website.
“It was a simple decision when I heard about Leeds, I have worked under Garry Monk before and he is a very good manager, he is good to work with and knows me as a player.
“Seeing the crowds on television and in person, you can see how much of a massive club this is and there is no chance I could turn it down.
“I’m really happy to be here, I’m very pleased to finally get things done and be a Leeds player because this is a massive club.
“Everyone knows Leeds United, even back in my home of Gambia, people know the club.”
Barrow was not registered in time to feature for Leeds in their midweek win against Blackburn at Ewood Park but will come into the reckoning to play in Sunday’s lunchtime kick-off.
The wide man was a regular in the Swansea side in the opening months of the season, starting 12 of his 19 appearances for the club and supplying three assists.
In total, Barrow’s 55 matches for the Premier League club have yielded two goals and seven assists in all competitions.
In other Leeds transfer news, the club came within a whisker of signing this goal machine on deadline day after holding extensive talks.
