24-year-old shines: Three Rangers fringe players that deserve first-team chance after win v Watford - view

COMMENT By Will Butcher

Rangers secured a hugely impressive 2-1 win over Premier League outfit Watford on Wednesday afternoon, with three fringe players starring for the Light Blues.

Pedro Caixinha fielded a strong side as he looked to go some way in putting the Gers’ Europa League disappointment behind them, after drawing 1-1 against Marseille last weekend.

In a match that was played at the Gers’ training ground, Caixinha named new signings Bruno Alves, Fabio Cardoso, Ryan Jack, Graham Dorrans, Daniel Candeias and Eduardo Herrera to start.

Goals from Candeias and substitute Martyn Waghorn gave the 54-time Scottish champions a late win, as the latter struck with just two minutes left to play.

The win will give Caixinha plenty of food for thought, as he prepares his side to face Motherwell on August 6 at Fir Park in the first Scottish Premiership clash of the season.
