Serie A side Benevento are close to signing Newcastle United flop Achraf Lazaar on loan and the deal is expected to be completed on Wednesday, according to a reliable journalist.
Nicolo Schira, a reporter for La Gazzetta Dello Sport, has revealed the news on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday evening.
The Italian football reporter claims that the 25-year-old “will sign a contract in Milan tomorrow”, which means it is set to be completed on Wednesday.

The unwanted Magpies star moved to St. James’ Park last summer from Palmero in a deal worth close to £3 million.
The Moroccan found it difficult to find his feet at the club and has only made 9 appearances in total for Rafa Benitez’ side since joining.

Lazaar have been left out of the squad for all of United’s Premier League matches this season, but was on the bench for the club’s Carabao Cup defeat against Nottingham Forest.
Football Insider verdict
It’s surprising that Lazaar is only going on loan and not looking for a permanent move, as he seems virtually unwanted by Benitez. The Moroccan failed to make the impact that the boss had hoped, and the consequences of that is being left out of the squad for a majority of the games. Rafa will want to make some last minute signings in the remaining hours of the transfer window, but to do so he will need to quickly whip up some funds by offloading a number of fringe players. Bazaar is one of those and it’s unlikely that a loan deal will win him back his spot in the Magpies squad on his return.
