Leeds are set to travel to Griffin Park on Tuesday night as they look to get back to winning ways against Dean Smith’s Brentford.
Here, Football Insider analyses three things to expect from Garry Monk’s Leeds outfit as they look to put Saturday’s defeat to Reading behind them.
Wood is on fire
Now on 27 strikes in all competitions, Wood will be looking to take the game to Smith’s Bees as they continue to leak goals. Conceding 22 goals in their last 10 games, Brentford have managed just one clean sheet in that time and New Zealand international Wood should find gaps and a lack of confidence among the back four. Remaining at the top of the division’s goalscoring rankings, Wood is brimming with confidence and is more than likely to continue his hot streak against a side that are struggling to plug the hole at the back.
Leeds away form
Leeds have won as many games away from home as Brentford have managed at Griffin Park, and Monk’s side will rightly be favourites to earn all three points. Leeds fans are known for their noise on the travels, and that support could have a huge influence on play and help Leeds win their ninth away win out of 20 league and cup fixtures.
January target to haunt Leeds?
Captain Liam Bridcutt is likely to be specifically asked to look after Spanish playmaker Sergi Canos, as the former Norwich and Liverpool ace has scored three goals in his last two outings. The Daily Star claim Leeds were mightily close to completing a deal for the 20-year-old at the start of the year, and after missing out on the versatile forward, he could now come to haunt Leeds come Tuesday night. He must be singled out and that would see Bridcutt attempting to keep him under control.
