26-year-old can still be a key man for Celtic as summer sale looks more likely

Brendan Rodgers had some good injury news this week when he revealed that Stuart Armstrong and Moussa Dembele had returned from injury and would be available for Celtic’s match against Hearts on Sunday.

The Hoops confirmed the news on the club’ s official Twitter account.

The return of Armstrong could have come at just the right time for the Hoops, it what may potentially be his last few matches for the Scottish champions as he nears he final year of his deal.

When he is on his game, he can be deadly from midfield, as his 17 goals showed last season. This season, injuries have restricted him to only five goals so far, but if you need a player to drive forward and score goals from midfield, he is the ideal candidate.

Sadly for the Hoops, the Scotland international’s contract runs out at the end of next season, and after he only signed what amounted to a one year deal at the start of the season, it is unlikely that Peter Lawwell and the Hoops board will allow him to do that again.

As he has not indicated that he will be willing to sign a new deal, then the Hoops may well opt to cash in on the player at the end of the season.

Whilst that would be annoying for Hoops fans, Armstrong is more than capable of finishing his Hoops career in style, and you wouldn’t bet against him scoring an important goal in the Scottish Cup Final.
