27-year-old axed in Caixinha 4-1-2-1-2: Rangers best possible XI to face Aberdeen
COMMENT By Harvey Byrne
Pedro Caixinha should axe Martyn Waghorn from his Rangers side which is set to travel to Aberdeen on Sunday afternoon.
The 27-year-old has remained goalless in his last two appearances for the club, which have both ended in draws and it is clear that the Portuguese needs to reshuffle his side.
The March appointment used a 4-2-3-1 formation in the midweek 0-0 draw with Kilmarnock, but it is thought that he must throw another player into the forward role if the club are to get anything against the second placed Dons.
This should result in Joe Garner and Kenny Miller starting upfront together with the pair valued highly for their link-up ability.
The experienced Miller will take Waghorn’s place in the team, while James Tavernier should move further forward into a right-midfield role due to his attacking threat alongside the club not having a natural right sided attacker.

Full-back Lee Hodson should then come into the right-back slot after his return from a midweek fever alongside Jon Toral coming into the midfield with both Jason Holt and Andrew Halliday dropping out of the team.
Rangers currently have their injury problems at the back with Rob Kiernan, Clint Hill and Lee Wallace all in the treatment room.
However, the defence consisting of David Bates, Myles Beerman and Danny Wilson helped the Gers keep a clean sheet in midweek and it is thought they can do the same again.
This is also the reason for Toral coming into the team as he helps his side maintain possession better than Halliday and he can shield the back four while helping the team move up the pitch.
Attackers Barrie McKay, Emerson Hyndman and Tavernier will also cause problems to a strong Aberdeen back line and they will be hoping to feed striker duo Garner and Miller who have 11 league goals between them this season.
