27-year-old star defies Arsene Wenger and confirms Arsenal in-fighting

Theo Walcott has confirmed that there has been in-fighting among the Arsenal players in their recent training sessions.

The 27-year-old believes that it is not uncommon for things like this to happen at other clubs but has called for unity between his teammates and the members of staff.

It has been widely reported in the last week that Alexis Sanchez was involved in some kind of altercation at the Gunners training ground which led to him being dropped to the bench ahead of Saturday’s loss to Liverpool.

Sanchez was later pictured shaking hands with Arsene Wenger who denied that there was any kind of bust-up among his players.

“Things get taken out of proportion — we all know this,” said Walcott, as quoted by the London Evening Standard. “There are certain things that happen at training grounds.

“I’m sure it happens at every other training ground, most of the time, really.

“You don’t see it often at Arsenal. Things have happened. They need to stay in the dressing room and the players and staff need to sort it out. We are in it together here. We can’t be fighting each other.”

The Gunners suffered their seventh consecutive Round of 16 elimination from the Champions League on Tuesday night after they were humiliated by Bayern Munich.

The German club romped to a 10-2 aggregate victory over Wenger’s side after back-to-back 5-1 wins.

Walcott and his teammates will now be hoping to forget about the Bayern loss in their next game against non-league Lincoln in the FA Cup quarter final.

After crashing out of Europe and their league campaign seemingly derailed, Arsenal’s only remaining hope of any silverware this season comes in the cup.

They are currently fifth in the Premier League after the 2-1 loss to Liverpool and if they were to fail to improve on their league position before the end of the season, it would be the first time Wenger has failed to take his club to a top-four finish.
