One victory should not change minds about Celtic 27-year-old, he must go in summer

COMMENT

Celtic may have kept a clean sheet in their emphatic 4-0 Scottish Cup semi-final win over Rangers, but there are still some players that demonstrated in the game that they aren’t good enough for the Hoops.

One of those players is – once again – Dedryck Boyata, who had a dreadful 10 minute spell in the game where he was partly responsible for three guilt-edged chances for the Gers, which they didn’t take due to poor finishing and Craig Gordon.

Just when you think Boyata is having a good game something happens which casts doubt on his performance – the way he lost Alfredo Morelos in the box to allow the Colombian a free header which required a miracle Gordon save to keep it out is certainly one of those.

Boyata only has a year left on his contract, and despite the face that Brendan Rodgers is a fan of the player the Hoops should be looking to sell the 27-year-old in the summer.

He makes far too many mistakes to be involved in the Champions League qualifiers in July, the games that will make or break the Hoops’ season.

The Bhoys have one excellent centre-back in Kristoffer Ajer, it’s about time he was complimented with a partner as good as him and that isn’t Boyata.

He has been a decent enough player for the Hoops but he should be sold in the summer.
