Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha needs to make one change from the side that won in the final pre-season match against Sheffield Wednesday if he is going to select his best possible starting lineup against Motherwell on Sunday.
Forward Martyn Waghorn must come in for new recruit Eduardo Herrera to partner Kenny Miller up front in the opening league match of the brand new campaign.
The 29-year-old has not experienced Scottish football throughout his career and it might be better to ease him into the fold and start the striker from the substitutes’ bench especially as the match is away from home.
Waghorn has spent two years plying his trade at Ibrox and he would not need to find his feet in a tricky away day on the first league game of the season.
The Englishman enjoyed a great record against Motherwell last season, notching up one goal and two assists against them in four matches in all competitions.
Waghorn also managed to get himself on the scoresheet in the pre-season friendly against Watford at the end of July when he scored a late winner to seal a 2-1 victory.
Herrera could potentially be used as an impact substitute to help the team should Rangers need a goal in the latter stages of the match.
In other Rangers news, the club’s new signings are set to dominate the Premiership starting XI.
