Expert shares 'amazing' Gianluca Scamacca claim after what he's spotted at West Ham

Noel Whelan has insisted West Ham must keep Gianluca Scamacca and Maxwel Cornet in the line-up after their form in the Europa Conference League.

The former Leeds striker was speaking exclusively to Football Insider ahead of the Irons’ Premier League clash against Everton on Sunday (18 September).

Scamacca and Cornet started as West Ham recorded a 3-2 away win against Silkeborg in the Europa Conference League on Thursday (15 September).

The Italian forward gave the Irons a first-half lead with a thunderous strike after they fell behind early on in Denmark.

Scamacca has notched three goals in eight appearances for West Ham but is yet to score in the Premier League.

Cornet, who scored nine goals in 26 Premier League outings last term, has managed five assists across four games in European competition.

Whelan implored David Moyes to “give the partnership time” as his side seek to turn around their patchy form.

He told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “When I watched them last night they looked very sharp.

“It’s a good partnership. Cornet looked very lively, and Scamacca is amazing inside the box – he scored a great goal and has a real stature about him.

“Moyes now has to give this partnership time to grow. They’ve got to have the time to learn each other’s games.

“At times on Thursday, they looked electric together. I don’t think chopping and changing will really help West Ham.

“They’ve got to persist with that set-up.”
